The one-bag edit

On choosing a single bag that carries the whole week.

The one-bag edit

There is quiet luxury in owning less, and carrying one bag well. The right bag is not the loudest in the room. It is the one that holds the working day with authority and still looks considered at dinner.

What to look for

A clean silhouette that does not slump. Leather chosen for how it softens. Hardware in antique gold, set to last. A size that holds a day, not a household. Buy once, and buy it to keep.

Carry it well

Let the bag age. Store it in its dust bag away from direct light. Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. A good bag rewards the small attentions, and returns them for years.
