Middle School at Solenne Hall

Middle School · Ages 11–14

Building and discovering.

The Middle years are for stretching out: deeper subjects, real workshops, and the first proper room to choose. This is where ideas meet the bench, the bunsen and the keyboard.

Our approach

Ages 11–14, taught with care.

Middle School marks the move into specialist subject teaching, taught by people who love what they teach. The core deepens, the questions get harder and the work grows more independent, while a strong pastoral structure keeps every student known and supported through a period of rapid change.

Alongside the core, students choose electives and join the workshops, laboratories and clubs that make the school hum after the bell. It is a stage built to widen interests before the focus of the senior years, and to teach the habits, planning, note-taking, resilience, that the IGCSE programme will ask for.

Robotics & design

Design & technology

Robotics & design

In the design studio and makerspace, students move from a brief to a working prototype: sketching, modelling, coding a controller and testing under load. They learn that a good idea is only the start, and that iteration, not inspiration, is what makes things work.

Science fair & exhibition

Enquiry & presentation

Science fair & exhibition

Each year culminates in an exhibition where students present an investigation of their own to peers, teachers and families. Designing the question, running the method and defending the findings aloud builds the independence that senior study rewards.
