( est. 1998 ) · Mumbai

Twenty-six yearsof evening light.

Vespera was founded on a single observation: that Mumbai is at its best at dusk, and its buildings should be too.

( 01 )  ·  The Founders

A window in Prabhadevi.

In 1998, Aditya Sehgal, a structural engineer who priced his own steel, and Mira Sehgal, an architect who drew by hand and still does, took on a narrow plot in Prabhadevi. Every other builder on the street fought for road frontage. The Sehgals designed their first building around a west window instead, so that each home caught the hour when the mill chimneys went gold.

Twenty-six years later, the company they founded has delivered 4.6 million square feet, and every plan still begins with the same pencilled question: where does the evening come in?

( 02 )  ·  The Years

Six dates, kept like keys.

  1. 1998Vespera is founded.Aditya and Mira Sehgal register the company above a Prabhadevi printing press, with one drafting table and one conviction about the western sun.
  2. 2003The first tower.Vespera One, Prabhadevi. Fourteen storeys, every living room facing west. It sells out from drawings.
  3. 2009The Worli parcel.Vespera quietly acquires the sea-face land that will wait, fully paid and unhurried, for The Bayline.
  4. 2015One million square feet.Delivered across nine towers, every one of them on the promised date.
  5. 2021Solara Estate rises.Twenty-eight villas take shape on the Alibaug shoreline, sold out before completion, keys handed over in 2024.
  6. 2026The Bayline tops out.Tower Aria crowns above Worli Sea Face. Possession, December 2027.

( 03 )  ·  The Philosophy

Light. Stone. Silence.

Three principles, unchanged since the first drawing. Everything else, heights, typologies, cities, has been negotiable.

Sunlit double-height foyer with evening light falling across the stair
LightOrientation before ornament. Every Vespera plan begins with the path of the western sun: rooms are placed where the evening will find them.
A marble residential lobby with basalt walls and darkened brass detailing
StoneMaterials that improve with weather: Indian basalt, honed marble, brass left to darken. Nothing that must be replaced to stay beautiful.
A quiet timber-lined study with a single reading chair by the window
SilenceThe rarest luxury in Mumbai is a quiet room. Double glazing, isolated slabs, plans drawn so the city is a view, not a sound.

( 04 )  ·  Leadership

Three signatures on every drawing.

The founders still sit the Thursday design review. No drawing leaves the house without all three initials in the title block.

( 06 )  ·  Giving Back

The Sehgal Light School, Palghar.

Since 2016, a fixed share of every Vespera handover has funded a school of 340 children in Palghar. Its classrooms face east for morning lessons; the library faces west, because some children read best in the evening light. There are no plaques on site, and there will not be. The school is the point.

The next twenty-six years are under construction.
